FESTIVAL DETAILS

COOKER HIGHLIGHTS

  • NO ELECTRICITY will be available; each cook must provide all of their cooking utensils and a means to heat their chili. Open flames require a fire extinguisher! Propane tanks should be secured to stay upright in any way possible.
  • To enter the judging competition, you must fill the provided unmarked judges bowl and bring it to Cabbagetown Park between 11:30am and noon. Winners are announced at the main stage at ~5pm!
  • All individual chili teams will be issued their own 8-foot table under shared tents which are set up before your arrival. This is your table to decorate, put up signs identifying your chili and/or team name, but please no hay and be respectful of your neighbors’ space 🙂
  • Your load-in packet will be sent out the week-of the event date

CHILI COOKERS BRING

  • Enough folks to help you unload your vehicle in the morning and drive it away! Load-in waves begin at 10am once the Romp 5k completes.
  • AT LEAST 5 gallons of prepared chili per entry (2 chili entries = 10+ total gallons)
    • Extra chili is always welcome and will be rewarded. We don’t want to see any 4-quart stock pots or you won’t be able to compete, sorry!
  • Heat to avoid cold chili. Propane (think turkey fryer) and Sterno are popular. Generators are NOT allowed. No electricity will be provided.
  • REQUIRED: A fire extinguisher is required by each team with an open flame. If you don’t have one or it’s expired, you can’t compete as ordered by the Fire Marshall.
  • Chairs and decorations: unless you want to stand and be boring
  • Coolers, paper towels and any other cooking accessories you may need
  • We provide a serving ladle and tasting cups to hand out to festival goers but feel free to bring (smaller) serving utensils.
