FAQ

Is the event free?
Yes! But if you want to eat chili, you must purchase an official spoon at our physical presale locations (Little’s or Sweet Cheats) or at the festival.

What time is chili served?
The festival is open 11am to 6pm and chili airhorns blow at 12:30pm sharp. You may lineup for chili beforehand, but the cookers are NOT allowed to serve before 12:30. You will receive a compostable tasting cup filled with chili at each booth and please DO NOT re-use your tasting cups at the next booth. Pro-tip, you can stack your cups and dump them once you’re done to maximize your chili consumption!

How should I get to Cabbagetown?
Parking is a rare commodity in Cabbagetown, even outside of our festival! Plan to use public transit, grab a scooter down the beltline, rideshare, park your bike at our official stations, or put on your best walking shoes to arrive quickly and easily! A good rideshare drop-off or bike-valet location is 97 Estoria on the south side of Krog Street Tunnel.

Is this a 21 and over event ?
Nope! All ages are welcome to dance your chili-stained socks off, however you must be 21+ to purchase alcohol.

Can I bring my dog?
We love our Cabbagetown canines but unfortunately NO PETS ALLOWED due to city ordinance.

Can I bring my own food/drinks/cooler?
As we are at core a fundraising event for the parks of Cabbagetown, we discourage outside beverages and food.
We will have a wide variety of food vendors in addition to our 12:30pm chili portion of the festival. Water will be available for purchase along with beer and cocktails for folks 21 and over with a valid ID.

Are bags permitted? What about chairs?
Yes, you can bring your own bags and chairs to post up wherever you’d like! We do ask that people not bring outside beverages/food, as Chomp & Stomp is a fundraising event for the parks of Cabbagetown.

Will there be ATMs?
No, sorry. We still accept cash and will have change readily available but have moved towards becoming a primarily non-cash event after 2020.

How do I volunteer for the festival?
Well, aren’t you a peach wanting to help? We’ll also hook you up with an official t-shirt, chili-tasting spoon, and some other swag when volunteer signups are live!

Why do y’all hold this festival anyway?
Our festival is volunteer-ran primarily by current and previous Cabbagetown residents. It is annual neighborhood fundraiser with all proceeds going community development including the maintenance and enhancement of our Cabbagetown parks. This means we sacrifice our blood, sweat and tears for this festival in our free time so both you and our parks can be happy! 🙂
